StarBird Saber Core Development Information
The StarBird Saber Core was conceptualized by Electrum to achieve a bold vision: to create the most advanced, user-friendly saber core the world has ever seen. Unparalleled in power, sensitivity, and adaptability, the StarBird Saber Core was promised to take your Lightsaber performance to the next level. To manifest this vision, Electrum brought on the skills of a local development firm: VOG Calgary App Developers.
The trust placed in this company was betrayed, and Electrum has made several announcements regarding production, the latest of which is available here. Electrum replaced the remaining team with a new, vetted developer with proven track record in the lightsaber community to independantly review and update the StarBird Core.
After a thorough review of the StarBird Saber Core with our new developer, we've identified several critical issues that need to be addressed to fulfill the promises made by VOG and the former development team. Our independent review revealed that the promises and specifications provided by VOG App Developers were intentionally misleading. We were assured of the technology specs and the polished capability of the platform, but critical functions need revision and hardware changes. Additionally, we have just learned from insiders that VOG management secretly reassigned developers to other projects and instructed them to mislead clients and project coordinators about the actual progress, under threat of job loss.
The wait times caused by their failure have become untenable. After community feedback and outreach, Electrum has made the decision to offer the Open Source Proffieboard to expedite order fulfillment while we continue development on our vision of a mobile compatible, consumer friendly core. This option will remain available as an install choice going forward.
